The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) in partnership with the Artscape Theatre congratulates the entrants who were selected as finalists for the 10th annual Golden Shield Heritage Awards. The awards ceremony is set to take place in the Western Cape province for the first time on Thursday, 14 September (17h30 for 18h00) at the Artscape Theatre.
In addition to the public categories, three recipients will be honoured in the special categories of Lifetime Achiever and Ubuntu Honour:
- Prof Pitika Ntuli and Mr Themba Wakashe
- Ms Ria Ledwaba
The call for entries closed on 25 August 2023. The Adjudication panel consisted of Heritage practitioners from different heritage disciplines. The following are finalists in the various categories:

- Melville Koppies
- Miga Kgasi Museum
Young Heritage Activist
- Sipho Hlakudi
- Hlayisani Shiburi

- Stef De Koker
- Cape Heritage Museum
