The Afrikaans Language Monument in Paarl is on a mission: to make contact with anyone who played a role in the early 1970s, or even earlier, in the creation and unveiling of this unique sculpture. The aim is to acknowledge everyone who was part of this fascinating piece of history - through their eyes and voices.

Do you know someone who was involved in the fundraising? Or anyone who built or did any work on the Paarl Mountain site where the monument was erected between 1972 and 1974? Was your family perhaps at the opening of the monument in 1975 or did one of you participate in the torch run that preceded it?

Then we would love to hear your stories and see photos before it's too late. Contact Chantelle de Kock on 021 872 3441/2018 or kurator@taalmuseum.co.za and send this request to people who may be able to help us. See www.taalmuseum.co.za for more information.
