Alan Mason - Heritage Consultant

In 2003, I started working for the firm of architects, Barlin & Chaskelson, and specifically with the architect, the late Rocco Bosman who can best be described as a Heritage Architect and Practitioner. I was responsible for the submission of building plans to Council, and among other things, the preparation of Section 34 Heritage Applications.

I was able to assist in many important projects that were assigned to the practice including the declaration of Upper Houghton as a Heritage Area, creating The Heritage Walk and preserving heritages sites in Modderfontein, creating and building the pavillion at the Gate House in The Valley Road and the restoration and the conversion of 'The Kraal' in Orchards into the Gandhi Museum - Satyagraha House - and a modern day B & B.

As an independent heritage consultant I continue to submit Section 34 applications and handle appeals. I also work as a photographer for surveys and heritage impact assessments.
