It is my pleasure to invite you to join me at my upcoming MA: Archaeology research excavation near Vryburg in the Northwest Province. Happening from 1 May 2016 to 27 May 2016 at Gamabot Farm. You are welcome to join me for the whole excavation period, or any part thereof.

Gamabot is a stonewalled settlement dating from ca. 1880 -1924, approximately 20km South West of Vryburg, North West  Province. We will be excavating different types of structures.

RSVP: 18 March 2016 - Please let me know whether I can rely on your expertise on site and which dates you will be volunteering your trowel.

Accommodation - We will be staying in the Tiger Kloof Educational Institute’s dormitories. Rooms can sleep 6 people per room. Each room has its own ablution facility.

Costs - Accommodation: R2000-00 per person for the whole period. Shorter periods will be calculated individually proportional to the period of stay. For safety I request all to save R2000-00 for accommodation and back-up funds.

Travel - Own travel arrangements and at own cost.

Catering -Self catering. Everyone is responsible for own meals, snacks, and drinks. Kitchen with fridge/ freezer and braai area available.
(Jan kindly donated 2 sheep, so there will be some meals “on the house”. Skaapbraai! Details to follow.)

Admin Arrangements - Archaeologists able to attend only part of the excavation session should just please clearly indicate the dates we can expect you on site, so that we have a trowel ready for you.

Assembly Point - We will meet up at the Tiger Kloof Educational Institute main campus on 1 May 2016 at 16:00.

Pre-Excavation Presentation/Meeting - We will have a short presentation on the first evening, the 1st of May 2016 at 19:00, to orientate everyone to the history of the site and the expectations of the excavation.
