Our committee, the oThongathi Museum was formed in March this year to work on the establishment of a museum in Tongaat. Tongaat ,noted for its rolling hills of sugar cane has a rich history. The Maidstone Sugar Mill is still as strong as ever.
One of the oldest buildings in Tongaat is the Old Railway Station Ticket Office. Our committee has identified this building for the proposed museum.
This article (click here to download) shows the progress thus far in our endeavours to establish a museum in Tongaat. We have a long way to go but we are confident that we will get there!
