Andre Wedepohl is the business development manager for the Recreation Africa Hotel Group. Recreation Africa owns Kedar Heritage Lodge (near Rustenburg), which has a magnificent collection of South African War artefacts (firearms, swords, uniforms, medals, documents, etc.).

Andre's  passion is South African history. He is particularly interested in the rich and complex history of the Magaliesberg area. His main focus is on the South African War, and especially on looking at the various battles through the eyes of the individuals who took part in them, and then gave us their first hand accounts.

Andre is a member of the Mountain Club of South Africa, and of the Military History Society. He regularly leads guided walks about South African War history for the Mountain Club, during which historically significant places in the Magaliesberg are visited. Andre has also given talks on various aspects of South African history for other organisations, including the Magaliesberg Protection Association,  Meerhof Lodge, the Maropeng Visitor Centre, and the Maretlwane Wilderness School.
