The Modderfontein Conservation Society is providing an opportunity for members of the public to take a walk through the past in recognition of International Museum Day.
The Society’s heritage champion, Keith Martin will lead the walk and share some interesting insights and amusing anecdotes.
The easy walk around the village’s Heritage Precinct will take place on Saturday 17 May, starting at 09:00 from The Dynamite Company Museum at 2 Main Street Modderfontein. It will be just over 2 km and will introduce visitors to some of the historic buildings in the precinct. It will last about 2.5 hours. The museum and historic Franz Höenig Haus will be open between 08:30 and 12:30.
Bring a hat, sun block, comfortable shoes and something to drink along the way.
Cost is R50.00 per head and booking is essential as numbers are limited. Contact Keith Martin at 011 608 2864 or 082 450 4003 or Robbie Vermont on 011 608 2693 or 082 800 3704.
