The book Lines through Time has been published by University of Johannesburg Press. Edited by Federico Freschi, it celebrates the story of GLH architects through 80 years.

It was a proud moment when I received my copy recently. The firm was founded by Manfred Hermer who was joined later by a young Rodney Grosskopf. The firm designed Ponte.

I wrote the chapter on the early history of Manfred Hermer. An incredible achievement for an architecture firm to achieve through three generations. Karen, daughter of Rodney, is an esteemed JHF tour guide and Bridget is an architect and my good friend. The book is an excellent record of Johannesburg architecture. Preface by Clive Chipkin. Copies are available at R500. The book is beautifully illustrated.
