The old whaling station still lies on the Bluff headlands, within the military base, and today is one of the few symbols that reminds us of the whaling that took place off the coast of Natal years ago. The oceans bordering the coast of South Africa were, after the Antarctic seas, the world richest whaling grounds & the U.W.C. station was the biggest and most sophisticated whaling factory in the world.

The Bluff is Africa’s First, Internationally Certified Whale Heritage Site.

The Durban Whaling History tour includes actual footage of the whaling operation as well as a presentation on Durban's Whaling History, followed by a visit to the old whaling station site.
