The DR Church was built in 1876 at the instigation of Philip Morgenrood of St James. Until that time a stable on his property had been used for worship by DR congregants. The mother church in Wynberg managed the construction of the church and it became known as the Simon’s Town – Kalk Bay DRC because they collectively ministered to DR congregants in the S Peninsula. It operated until 1952 when the Fish Hoek DR church was opened.
Barrie Gasson will relate its history covering the congregation’s Kalk Bay links; births, confirmations, marriages, deaths; the DR school; the closure and move to Fish Hoek.
