The scheduled talk on Tuesday 16 July 2019 at the usual 19:30 will be held in combination with the Friends of the East London Museum in the Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer Hall at the East London Museum

The talk will be presented by Dennis G Jenkinson  and is titled: Southernwood Quarry

Dennis Jenkinson is East London born and bred. Schooled at Selborne College and the East London Technical College, he spent a short time in the wool trade at the Farmer's Co-operative Union before joining the East London Municipality where he spent 35 years. He primarily worked in the Engineers Department before moving to the Transport Department running the East London Bus Service until he took early retirement in 1991. During his time in the Transport Department he developed a great interest in the East London Tram Service and compiled a significant collection of information and photographs.

Dennis has always had a great love of sport, an ongoing participation in the Parish community work of the Roman Catholic Church and an ongoing involvement in the Knights of Da Gama.

During his time in the Engineer's Department the Southernwood Quarry fell within his responsibility. Dennis will be providing some interesting background and history to the Quarry and of the resultant Quarry Lake - which now forms a unique focal point of an upmarket Residential, Office and Hotel development

There will be time for questions and tea will be served. All welcome to attend.
