The Johannesburg Heritage Foundation held a successful morning event celebrating the opening and launch of our new Bookroom. Guests enjoyed browsing a wonderful book sale featuring new and second-hand quality books, while savouring Christmas cheer and homemade mince pies.
The highlight of the morning was our book panel discussion, chaired by David Fleminger, where panelists explored a fascinating selection of recent publications, including:
- Sandstone Houses of the Eastern Free State
- Brahman Hills in the KZN Midlands
- Chipkin's Johannesburg Transition
- Samuel Daniell biography by Michael Stevenson
- Josi Dale Lace biography by Neil Viljoen
- Sir Herbert Baker by John Stewart
- Nigel Hughes' series of KZN-focused heritage, shipping, and art books
The lively panel discussion featured Michelle Magwood, Brian McKechnie, Neil Viljoen, and Kathy Munro, making for a wonderful book-focused morning.
Northwards and the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation will be closed from 13 December 2025 until 5 Jan 2026. We wish all heritage enthusiasts a happy holiday season. Should you wish to visit the JHF Bookroom in early 2026, please phone the JHF office on 060 813 3239.
