Can anyone help me to trace the movements of my grandfather during the South Africa War?

I am researching the footsteps of my grandfather, W.A.A. Strauss during the South African / Anglo Boer War. He served under Coen Brits. But with the exception of Bakenlaagte, I do not find Coen Brits anywhere during the war. Can anyone assist my research journey?
