Iziko Museums of South Africa are African museums of excellence that empower and inspire all people to celebrate and respect our diverse heritage. We are seeking to appoint motivated employees in the following positions:

OFFICE OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CORE FUNCTIONS (five-year fixed-term contract position)

*Basic Salary Range: R833 556 – R1 127 880per annum, plus benefits

Requirements: Masters degree in Art, History, Science or equivalent -At least ten years’ relevant experience of which at least five years at senior management level -Knowledge and understanding of Social History, Art and/or Natural History -Knowledge and understanding of national heritage legislation and international museum organisations -Proven leadership skills -Strategic planning and policy development skills -People management skills -Financial management skills -Effective communication skills -Computer literate in MS Office Suite -Valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities include: Serve on the Executive Management Committee -Provide leadership to the departments of Collections & Digitisation, Research & Exhibitions and Education -Strategic management -Risk management -People management -Financial management -Brand management.

 

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

DIRECTOR EDUCATION (five-year fixed-term contract position)

*Basic Salary Range:R511 572 – R692 124 per annum, plus benefits

Requirements:  A tertiary qualification relevant to the field of education and life-long learning -At least five years’ relevant experience in the education sector - Managerial experience -Knowledge of the national curriculum -Knowledge of the heritage sector -Computer literate in MS Office Suite -Public speaking -Mentorship experience -Valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities include:Strategic management -Risk management -People management -Stakeholder focus -Financial management and Administration.

 

*BASIC SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salaries quoted above do not include benefits.  Iziko benefits comprise generous contributions towards a designated retirement fund (compulsory), a designated medical aid (voluntary) and a housing subsidy (voluntary).  Other employment conditions such as working hours and leave entitlement are also generous.
