This Freedom Day the Magebhula Mpanza Big Walk will be taking place in Tshwane. Come one, come all! The Magebhula Mpanza Big Walk celebrates the old and new dispensation. The 4km route starts at 09h30 at the Voortrekker Monument and finishes at Freedom Park. 

Magebhula James Sofasonke Mpanza- The father of Soweto and founder of Orlando Boys Club (1934) later changed its name to Orlando Pirates F.C in 1939 “Ezimnyama ngenkani ezika-Magebhula James Mpanza” .The founder of the first civic movement in South Africa - Sofasonke movement (1935).The first black man in South Africa to be bookmaker and to own racehorses. The first land grabber in South Africa that gave birth to Soweto (22 March 1944).

Rev Michael Scott the first and only white squatter in South Africa joined Magebhula Mpanzas squatter in solidarity with Magebhulas course.Rev Michael Scotts actions impressed Mr. Nelson Mandela then a member of ANC Youth League.

STARTS:    9:30am Voortrekker Monument –Pretoria
ENDS AT:     Freedom Park (Pretoria, Tshwane)

Free transport departs from House Number 1 Mooki Street Orlando. The oldest House in Orlando.
