Cemeteries Tour - 28 June 2025

Notice Expiry:

Join me for a tour of the Braamfontein and Westpark cemeteries on Saturday, 28 June, for a journey to hear tales of intriguing characters, tinged with sadness at lives lost too young. Braamfontein was our first cemetery, opened in 1887, barely a year after the town was established, with Mary Dearlove the first burial in that year, rest her soul. Hear from the survivors of the Westdene Dam disaster, the victims buried in the Westpark cemetery. And much more - Baby Jake Matlala, Beyers Naude, Kate Zuma, Herman Charles Bosman...

There are guards with dogs at the beautiful Braamfontein Cemetery, and we don't go far into the Westpark Cemetery, so it's all perfectly safe.
