The Gauteng Heritage Action Group (GHAG) is responsible for the 'Black Plaque Programme' which launched in 2017. The goal of the programme is to shame owners into restoring their neglected properties. Below is a list of properties (and owners) that are on the official Black Plaque List:

Johannesburg

  1. CNA Building (owned by Urban Ocean)
  2. Marshall Street Barracks (owned by the Department of Public Works)
  3. Hospital Superintendent's House (owned by the Gauteng Department of Health)
  4. Queen Vic Maternity Hospital (later Transwerke)
  5. Rand Water Board (owned by the Gauteng Provincial Administration)
  6. New Kempsey Building (owned by Urban Ocean)

 

Removed from the list:

Johannesburg

  1. Rissik Street Post Office (owned by the City of Johannesburg)
