We start the year with the first monthly talk on Tuesday 21 January 2020 at 19:30 with an illustrated presentation by Dennis Walters entitled: Repairs by the Royal Engineers of Railway Destruction during the Anglo-Boer War: 1899-1902.

Dennis has prepared a fascinating talk with some extraordinary images detailing his current research topic.

He presented the same talk at an International Conference in Bloemfontein in October 2019 for the 120 year commemoration of the Anglo Boer War and has kindly offered to give a presentation to the Friends of the Museum and the Border Historical Society.

Dennis is a Civil Engineer and the author of the book Bridging the Eastern Cape: The life and work of Joseph Newey (click here for details)

The talk is hosted by the Friends of the East London Museum and the Border Historical Society. No charge. Tea will be served afterwards and all are welcome to attend.
