As the world emerges from a global pandemic and two years of lock-down, the West Coast and Saldanha Bay region is ready to welcome back visitors and build back stronger than ever before.

The West Coast Fossil Park, located near Langebaan, is one of the very few sites in Africa where actual fossil remains can be viewed in situ. It is ranked amongst the best education and palaeo-tourism destinations in the world and is truly a site of great cultural and tourism significance - the jewel in the West Coast tourism crown.

September is not just tourism and heritage month, the 22nd of September also marks the West Coast Fossil Park’s 24th anniversary – plenty of reasons to gather together, celebrate our rich and unique cultural heritage and welcome the start of a new era for tourism.

Please join us on Thursday 22 September for a West Coast Tourism Showcase at the West Coast Fossil Park from 10am – 3pm.

Programme highlights include:

  • Rieldans ceremony
  • Community feast
  • Art exhibition & craft market
  • Free tours and children’s programme
  • Lecture Palaeontology - Prof John Compton
  • Future plans for the West Coast Fossil Park shared

Please RSVP to Annareth Bolton at annareth@destinate.co.za
