Talana Museum is busy working on a new permanent exhibit – “Historic Dundee” – which will open on 23 September this year – 135 years after the first lots of land were sold for development of the town. This display will include Glencoe and Sibongile.

We are looking for all sorts of information – interesting stories, photographs, , your memories of early days in Dundee, trophies from the Dundee Agricultural Shows, school prizes and school uniforms from 30-80 years ago.

One of the important photographs we are trying to find is one that will show us what the curfew bell looked like. Was it the same bell as the one on the market square?

If you have any interesting information about the town, events and happenings, interesting people- please contact Pam at the museum 034 2122654 or e-mail us info@talana.co.za. Follow the growth and development on this display on our facebook and instagram talanamuseum.

Keep watching our facebook and the Courier for news on the official opening “Dundee Homecoming” on 23 and 24 September. Anyone with connections to Dundee past and present is invited to “Come home for the weekend”
