Does anyone have information on the history of Forest Town?

I am searching for historical information and material on Forest Town in Johannesburg. Additonal help sourcing information on the following would be of great help: Johannesburg Investment Corporation and their involvement with the development of Forest Town, Zoolake, Jhb Zoo and the two bay window & stoep house typology designed by Robert Howden. The Braamfontein Estate Company also had a hand to play in the development of the suburb. The Barlow Archives (contains company records & correspondence) were donated to Wits, but they're not accessible at the moment.
