I am on the hunt for a copy of In Memoriam: Roll of Honour Imperial Forces Anglo-Boer War 1899 by Steve Watt. If anyone has this book, could they please check for me to see if any mention is made of the following people:

  • Father - William Andrew Baker born 02 05 1852
  • 2nd Son - Roxby Balneavis Baker born 1879
  • 3rd Son- William Balneavis Baker born 1877

Although they came from New Zealand, they lived in the Klerksdorp area. The 1st son, Colin Balneavis Baker joined the Boers and was captured at Zwartkoppies and shipped off to Bellary, South India British POW camp. Upon his return in 1902 he went back to Klerksdrop where he married and soon after buried his first wife and their daughter, thereafter a second wife (sister to the first wife both with the surname Roos) all before he reached his late 20s!

It is possible that the father and two younger sons may have joined the British…. but I would like to rule that possibility out before starting another exhausting search with the UK files.

Thank you in advance.
