Ever been curious about the source of the Braamfontein Spruit and other streams in the city? Come with me to explore a small section of the spruit, and learn more about Joburg!

I have a 20km Braamfontein Spruit bike tour but for those who don't cycle, I've shortened the tour and made it a walking tour of 7km. We'll explore the spruit and its tributaries, starting at Fresh Earth at the bottom of Conrad Drive, stop at the waterfall there, to get a broad background of the river systems of the city, before walking into Delta Park, and stop and talk more. It promises to be a fun and informative tour in a leisurely walk along the river.

So if you're not a cyclist but want to get some exercise while learning more about our city, come along! I don't think many people know the extent of the streams and rivers all around us. I have found, for instance, two streams in my hood, Linden, but have no idea where they start. Like most of our streams, they've been canalised or simply covered under roads and houses. I have several maps to show you, and of course, always photographs to bring the history alive!
