The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Division will host a Heritage and Museums Orientation Workshop on December 2 at the Benoni Museum from 9am to 4pm. Details via the Benoni Times:

According to Mpume Gamede, research officer at the Benoni Museum, the aim of the workshop is to educate the public about various aspects of the South African heritage industry as well as the significance of museums and their role and responsibility in people’s lives.

Gamede said another key performance outcome is to build a sustainable relationship between the Ekurhuleni Heritage and Museum Section and the public.

There will be keynote speakers from the South African Heritage Resources Agency, the Ditsong Museums of South Africa and the head of the Ekurhuleni Arts, Culture and Heritage Division.
