Bedford Court, designed by Sir Herbert Baker for George Farrar (later Sir George) and whose foundation stone was laid by Lord Milner in 1903, now forms the heart of St Andrew’s School for Girls, recognised as one of the leading girls’ schools in South Africa.

A magnificent building with all the attention to detail of Baker’s Arts and Crafts creed, it was built on grand scale and set in generously proportioned gardens as the huge trees reveal.

We shall be able to see the recent restoration of the beautiful exterior, see new architectural additions and hear of proposed future developments. We shall also have the privilege of hearing about new aspects of the history of the Farrar family which have come to light through recent research.
