We seek to appoint a Junior Lecturer or Lecturer or a Senior Lecturer in Heritage Studies with specialisation in Museum Conservation/Museum Science. The appointee will be a member of the School of Humanities and will report to the Head of School. The incumbent will be expected to co-ordinate and present modules in the relevant subject and in other subjects which form part of the Humanities programmes at Sol Plaatje University. Candidates should be capable to teach modules such as Basics of Material Science, Science of Conservation, Objects Conservation, Conservation Theory etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • An Honours, Masters or PhD in Museum Conservation or cognate disciplines;
  • Experience in museum conservation practice;
  • Evidence of research involvement and publication thereof;
  • Experience with curriculum development in the subject area/discipline;
  • Some university lecturing experience will be an added advantage;
  • Exposure to or experience working in a conservation laboratory.

  • Research in a relevant field.
  • Community engagement.
